Revamped Bicycle Maintenance Offer

TDEG’s Cycling Group is joining forces with Tideswell’s very own bike shop, Peak Tri Store (Unit 7b, Meverill Road), to offer a new and improved format for our Bicycle Maintenance Club.

From Saturday 2 December 2023, bicycle maintenance sessions will be held at Peak Tri and have the following 2-part structure, to offer you both:
– an expert-led demonstration of a non-specialist maintenance topic, and
– more flexible time for you to practise our scheduled topic/maintain your own bike with our kit and support:

3-4pm: Non-Specialist Maintenance Demonstration
(Reminder of Safety Check Routine + Scheduled Topic – see rota below)

4-5pm: Individual Practice/Maintenance Time with Expert Support
(Either time to practise topic using own bike or a demonstration bike, or free time to use bike stands, tools and cleaning equipment for non-specialist maintenance tasks)

We will ensure that demonstrations of core maintenance tasks, such as puncture repair and brake pad replacement, are repeated every few months, to provide regular refreshers combined with the opportunity to practise with support at hand. We also want to be as responsive as possible to participants’ needs, and may schedule more bespoke sessions to help us do this. To find out our next topic, see the Discussion tab within the latest Bicycle Maintenance Club event advertised via the TDEG Facebook Group.

Demonstrations and non-specialist maintenance support and equipment are provided free of charge. Spare parts will also be on hand to purchase.

If you just want to use our kit and support for basic maintenance tasks on your own bike, feel free to drop in during the second half (by 4:30pm); you do not need to attend the demonstration.

We are also consulting to find out if it would be helpful to offer maintenance sessions more regularly than once a month. If 3-5pm on the 1st Saturday of the month doesn’t suit you, but you would like to attend maintenance support sessions, please fill in this survey.
