‘Bike Bus’ to Bakewell
The bicycle is the answer to a number of today’s pressing problems: high fuel prices, inexorably rising greenhouse gas emissions, the obesity epidemic, local air pollution, increasing stress and anxiety levels…. Going for a bicycle ride really can make you feel better, become fitter, save money and reduce your carbon footprint. And if enough of us take to bicycles it improves the local environment for others too. Less traffic pollution and congestion, better air quality and less demand on the local health services.
Cycling in the Peak District doesn’t have to be all about donning brightly coloured lycra and riding an expensive road bike up the nearest steep hill. For our first ride, we are organising a social ride to Bakewell, on Sunday 15 January 2023. As we no longer have a Sunday bus service, come and join our ‘bike bus’. We will cycle down to Bakewell along the Monsal Trail, have time for a hot drink in a café and a little shopping, and cycle back together. Any type of bicycle is welcome.
