People’s Emergency Briefing in Tideswell

In early September, TDEG hosted a “sell-out” to a free screening of the “People’s Emergency Briefing” in Tideswell Community Hall. This film is a synopsis of the National Emergency Briefing (NEB) given at Westminster Hall to 200 Members of Parliament and The House of Lords and 800 leaders, scientists and campaigners in November 2025.

The film provides evidence by independent experts of the threats from climate and nature breakdown to national and global security.

Following the screening, we had a short discussion about further action we could all take and the need to keep pressure on the government to address these important issues.

Our MP, John Whitby, was invited to the event, but could not attend due to prior commitments. He did attend the NEB in Parliament and has attended around seven other local events. He sent us this statement, to read out at the Tideswell event –

There is also a call from the national organisers of these screenings for the Government to run live broadcasts to the nation – in the style of the COVID briefings –  to ensure everyone has the opportunity to hear this credible evidence about these threats and the need to take urgent action.

If you’d like to support the campaign for national live broadcasts fronted by the PM you can find the petition here .

If you missed this event, other local screenings are coming up. Please book tickets using the links:
